CHERRY LEE MEWIS

A welcome return to The Bear Club for British Blues Award-nominee, Cherry Lee Mewis. Dashes of ragtime, country blues, rock 'n' roll, and a blade of bluegrass, all cemented together with Cherry's energy-a-plenty, smoky vocals.

Championed by Imelda May, Seasick Steve, and Walter Trout, Cherry is a pint-sized vocal powerhouse from North Wales who has helped turn roots 'n' blues music into a cool, swinging fusion that's both classic and stylishly modern.

Cherry has been out to Memphis several times, including a performance at the legendary BB King's on Beale Street, and Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, where the man himself came to see her. She’s also recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios for Bernie Marsden's Shine album, and has appeared on albums with Del Bromham, The Quireboys, and Frankie Miller.

Cherry’s live album, Late Night Lock-In, is her seventh release, co-written with guitarist Max Milligan. It features a heady mix of foot-stomping barnburners and bluesy slow-cooked rockers with a spoonful of jazzy shuffle, supported by a band of slick, smokin' musicians.

Cherry will be joined by Max Milligan (acoustic guitar), Robbie Stewart-Mathews (vocals, bass & blues harp), Nick Slater (dobro), and Flow (drums).
