CHRISTIAN GÁLVEZ TRIO

© Clara Salina

Christian Gálvez is quite simply the most important bass player in Latin America at the moment, and one of the best bass virtuosos in the world. We are thrilled to welcome a player of his calibre to The Bear, for what promises to be a very special evening.

Christian’s vision of the electric bass as a harmonic instrument is unrivalled, and his original style is both colourful and musical. His use of harmony and chords at the highest level are a key part of his own language, and comes close to the great geniuses of the chord melody such as Joe Pass, Tal Farlow, George Benson and Pat Martino.

Since 2005, he has worked closely with the Argentine guitarist Luis Salinas, and performed with many great musicians including jazz fusion drummer Billy Cobham, and legendary bassist Stanley Clarke.

Christian will be joined by Marco Marconi (piano) and Gabor Dornyei (drums), with special guest Tullio Molina (alto sax).

A very inventive, sensitive musician who, if given the right musical information, can make a modest musical offering into a musical banquet
— Billy Cobham
One of the greatest bass players of our time... Christian has serious music capabilities to play anything and everything
— Dennis Chambers
Christian is a bass playing Pat Martino... he belongs to the small group of the young new modern bass geniuses
— Jeff Berlin
