Ed Blunt is a multi-instrumentalist storyteller whose songs will both make you laugh and gently break your heart.
Blending folk, jazz, and roots with a Randy Newman-esque dry humour, his lyrics hold a mirror to 21st-century life—from swiping right for love to pipe dreaming on the 7:38 to London Bridge.
A fixture on the London scene, his endearing stage presence and candid storytelling have earned him a devoted following, drawn to his singular voice and unfiltered authenticity.
Born in the picturesque Surrey Hills, Ed grew up surrounded by the sounds of Paul Simon, James Taylor, and Van Morrison. While childhood piano lessons were a struggle due to his difficulty reading music, his natural ability to play by ear foreshadowed his unique songwriting talent.
In his teens, Ed honed his craft by forming bands and playing hometown gigs, eventually leading him to study jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music. However, it was an unexpected detour during the Covid lockdown that truly kickstarted his songwriting career.
Serendipitously discovering an online songwriting camp, Ed caught the eye of Chris Difford of Squeeze, who became a pivotal mentor, recognising Ed's talent for the first time.
Since then, Ed has released two critically acclaimed albums under his own name, Over The Moon (2022) and Grown Up (2024). He has collaborated with major artists including Tom Odell, Westlife, and Beth Nielsen Chapman (and he played keys in Hollie Rogers’ band at The Bear in February).
With his ability to capture the essence of human experience through a lens of poignant humour and sharp social commentary, Ed Blunt's music resonates with universal appeal, leaving a mark on the hearts and minds of his listeners.
