Detroit native Kathy Kosins started out as a soul, rock and pop singer, working extensively with the bands Was (Not Was) and Slingshot, and recording artist Michael Henderson. In more recent years, she has become an internationally renowned jazz singer, taking her audience on a dynamic musical journey with an eclectic musical palette. She has recorded and performed across the globe with many well known jazz and soul artists including Gregory Porter, Terrance Blanchard and Randy Brecker.
Her latest album Uncovered Soul is a celebration of her soul-infused roots, tracing back to her upbringing during the legendary Motown years in Detroit. Kathy delivers her most intense and intimate singing yet and wows audiences with her flawless phrasing and a deep-rooted passion for storytelling.
Kathy will be joined by the fabulous pianist Paul Edis, one of the leading creative musicians in the UK today. He will be performing with his trio, which features Adam King (double bass) and Joel Barford (drums).
As a performer, composer and educator, Paul has built a reputation for consistently delivering new and original ideas, seeking to innovate within his work whilst always paying respect to both the jazz and classical music traditions. In whatever genre or musical context he inhabits, Paul is passionate about melody and expression.
Up-and-coming singer Hannah Freeman will be kicking the evening off, accompanied by the Paul Edis Trio.
