LEON GREENING TRIO FEAT. NIGEL PRICE

UK jazz guitar star Nigel Price joins the Leon Greening Trio to take on the classic Wynton Kelly and Wes Montgomery album, Smokin’ at the Half Note.

One of the greatest documented performances in modern jazz history occurred in June 1965, when Wes Montgomery played at The Half Note jazz club in New York with the Wynton Kelly Trio. The gig was recorded and has since taken its place amongst the legendary jazz albums.

Tonight, Wynton Kelly expert and virtuoso pianist Leon Greening augments his regular trio with the addition of one of the UK’s top jazz guitarists, Nigel Price, as they recreate the excitement of this important recording. Expect fireworks!

Featuring Leon Greening (piano), Adam King (double bass), Steve Brown (drums), and Nigel Price (guitar).

Leon simply gathers you up in the energy and momentum of his playing and sweeps you up along with his endlessly inventive improvisations

Straight, swinging, clean-toned guitar... it’s playing of this standard that keeps the jazz tradition burning and is likely to turn more people onto the music
— London Jazz News
Smokin’ at the Half Note is the absolute greatest jazz guitar album ever made. It’s also the record that taught me how to play
