OLLY SARKAR CONTINUUM

Olly is a Luton-born, now London-based drummer, composer and educator with a love for jazz, hip-hop and electronic music. His music blends jazz fluidity with the crisp, unshakable sound worlds of hip-hop, garage and broken beat, whilst maintaining a spontaneous approach to groove and musical shape.

He has performed extensively across the UK and Europe, and has recorded live sessions for Ronnie Scott’s, Peggy’s Skylight, and various BBC radio stations. Recent highlights include Winter Jazzfest, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Roma Jazz Festival, Paris Jazz Festival, and sellout shows at EartH Theatre Hackney and Soho’s Pizza Express Jazz Club.

Olly has performed with some of the UK’s finest musicians, including Cherise Adams-Burnett, Nubya Garcia, Nerija, Seed Ensemble, Reuben James, Chelsea Carmichael, Camilla George, Ruben Fox, Mark Kavuma, Jumoké Fashiola, Tom Barford, Billy Marrows and Alex Hitchcock.

He can also be heard on These Days and These Days in These Ways (Remix EP) by Daniel Casimir & Tess Hirst, Flung out of Space by Jessica Bullen and The Sorcerer by Tom Sochas.

Featuring Olly Sarkar (drums), Jack Polley (bass), Tobie Carpenter (guitar), Reiss Beckles (alto sax) and Joe Bristow (trombone).

Olly Sarkar on drums is as good as you would hear on any iconic jazz master’s Blue Note album from the ‘50s and ‘60s and more besides
