Singer-songwriter and pianist Pokkisham spins stories around everyday life, challenges, and love. These tales are showcased through beautiful arrangements that take you on a journey where each story suddenly feels like your own, presented through her incredible vocal range and classical-influenced piano touches.
Her songwriting accesses a wide variety of styles, from jazz and soul to folk and spoken word, allowing the stories and sounds to take flight.
Her latest single releases have received attention and praise from radio stations and critics, including BBC Introducing and Jazz FM. Her wealth of experience and knowledge has seen her recently join BBC 6 Music as one of their resident musicologists on the Huw Stephens show, presenting aspects of music composition, arranging, and production.
Pokkisham and her band, which features many stellar UK musicians including drummer Jimmy Norden, together bring forth a real sense of working camaraderie, trust, and openness, with room for improvisation and fun.
Pokkisham’s goal is to always create a community with her audiences wherever she plays through her clear love of storytelling, musicianship, and honest connection.
