Tomorrow's New Quartet is quickly gaining recognition as one of the most exciting jazz bands to emerge from the British scene. Drawing inspiration from Chick Corea's Return To Forever and Keith Jarrett's European Quartet, the band has captivated audiences across the country with their engaging brand of modern jazz.
Led by drummer and composer Rod Oughton, the quartet released their debut album All Together, Now! on the Ubuntu Music label in 2022. The band features several young heavyweights from the next generation of British jazz, namely Deschanel Gordon on piano and Flo Moore on bass. They will be joined by a special guest from The Netherlands, Ben van Gelder—one of the world's finest saxophonists.
Rod Oughton, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, has performed worldwide, and toured with notable musicians such as former Buena Vista Social Club member Javier Zalba, legendary British pianist Huw Warren, and Irish pop sensation Hudson Taylor.
Ben van Gelder, regarded internationally as an authority on the alto saxophone, is renowned for his distinctive sound, lyricism, and personal approach to composition. His music is firmly rooted in jazz tradition, but embraces many other musical genres and disciplines.
Deschanel Gordon, one of the finest young pianists on the UK scene, and a nominee for the Parliamentary Jazz Award for Instrumentalist of the Year 2024, has recently performed at The Bear as part of the Artie Zaitz Quartet and the Donovan Haffner Quintet.
Finally, Flo Moore, a former member of both Ezra Collective and Nerija, is one of the most in-demand bass players on the UK scene.
