Focus on Jazz will close out the year in style at The Bear Club by featuring one of the UK’s finest soul discoveries: Hil St. Soul, who will perform with her full live band in an intimate setting.
Hil will be supported by one of Mi-Soul Radio's top DJs, Jon Jules. The event will be hosted by Focus on Jazz promoter Perry Louis.
They don’t make them like Hil St. Soul anymore. The Zambian-born, London-raised artist weaves these two worlds into a rich tapestry of sound, feeling, and experience – all bound together by an unshakeable sense of soul. Once you hear Hilary Mwelwa’s voice, you won't forget it: rich, full-bodied, and gilded with melodic instinct, she belongs in the same world as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and Whitney Houston.
Veteran DJ and Mi-Soul Radio's Jon Jules knows his way around a turntable or three. He has held residencies at the London Hippodrome, Club UK, Stringfellows, Camden Palace, Limelight in London, Tito’s Palace and BCM in Majorca, and even had a lengthy stint at Club Berlin in Perth, Western Australia. Jon’s usual style is playing jazz-funk, soul, and disco. We are thrilled to have one of Mi-Soul’s flagship DJs on board.
