Polly Paulusma is an English singer-songwriter, touring recording artist, record producer, label founder and author.
In 2003, tucked away in her garden shed, 28-year-old Polly Paulusma recorded her debut album ‘Scissors In My Pocket’. Record label One Little Indian signed her up and ‘Scissors…’ received immediate and widespread critical acclaim upon its international release in 2004. Paulusma has released five subsequent studio albums with Bjork’s label One Little Independent, all straddling the acoustic, singer-songwriter, jazz-inflected indie-folk and trad folk genres. She has supported Bob Dylan, Jamie Cullum, Coldplay, Marianne Faithfull, The Divine Comedy and a host of other notable artists in her 21-year career.
Paulusma plays songs from her back catalogue and from her new album “Wildfires”, accompanied by Jon Thorne (Lamb, Yorkston Thorne Khan) on upright bass. 'Wildfires', is an extraordinary extended piece of work containing two hours of breathtakingly emotional songs interlaced with spoken word poetry. A truly immersive experience, the album has been produced by acclaimed record producer Ethan Johns (Laura Marling, Ray Lamontagne, Ryan Adams).
The musical connection between Paulusma and Thorne is something to behold; combining bawdy humour and anecdotes with extraordinary songs that touch on love, loss, grief and philsophical enquiry. Paulusma and Thorne lead their audiences on a journey of laughter and tears.
